Roe Green Walled Garden
The Long Border

A Victorian walled garden maintained by volunteers of the Barn Hill Conservation Group this little gem in Kingsbury contains a small museum dedicated to the original owner of the premises, the Duchess of Sutherland.

There is a long herbaceous border along one wall containing mature shrubs and perennials. Vegetable beds line another wall with the third wall providing warmth to native fruit trees. We also have two ponds, one a wildlife pond and the other an ornamental pond.

The community garden is maintained keeping to organic standards, without the use of pesticides or fertilisers. Since 2005 we have won the Green Flag Award every year for both of our sites. We welcome volunteers who would like to work on maintaining the garden using organic methods, and we provide training in conservation skills.

The garden is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, between 10 am and 2 pm.
